Jane Moore seconded the motion. Motion passed. Approval of Minutes Mary Schantz moved the minutes from the September 12, 2017 Regular Meeting be accepted. Bill Case seconded. Motion passed. New Business Resolution for Cathy Bordner. See attached Exhibit A. Old Business Demolition Ordinance – Eric Barron presented the most current version of the Demolition Ordinance. The Planning and Zoning Commission will hear public comments on November 9th at 5:15 p.m. at City Hall. Commission members are encouraged to attend. Demolition Applications a. 1204 E. High St. – Jayme Abbott provided information on the property. In reviewing Section 8- 44 C, Criteria for Nomination, the structure does not appear to hold any significance in terms of heritage, culturally or architecturally. Doug Record moved that there will be “no historic properties affected” by the demolition and the permit be recommended for approval by this commission. Bill Case seconded the motion. Mary Schantz abstained. Motion passed. b. 105 Memorial Park Dr. - Jayme Abbott provided information on the property. Bill Case moved that there will be “no historic properties affected” by the project is approved by this commission. Jane Moore seconded the motion. Motion passed. b. 1003 Holly Dr. – Jayme Abbott presented information on the property. Bill Case moved that there will be “no historic properties affected” by the project is approved by this commission. Jane Moore seconded the motion. Motion passed. Dates to Remember a. Meeting adjourned at 7:27 p.m. RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE OF CATHERINE C. BORDNER WHEREAS, by Resolution adopted on October 10, 2017, the Jefferson City Historic Preservation Commission, comprised citizens of the City of Jefferson tasked by city ordinance to “Safeguard and promote the city’s cultural, aesthetic and architectural heritage.” WHEREAS Catherine (Cathy) C. Bordner has graciously volunteered her time and expertise to the Jefferson City Historic Preservation Commission by: 1. Identifying and preserving the distinctive historic, archaeological and architectural characteristics of the City of Jefferson which represent elements of the city's cultural, social, economic, political and architectural history; 2. Fostering civic pride in the beauty and noble accomplishments of the past as represented in the city's landmarks and historic districts; 3. Conserving and improving the value of property designated as landmarks or within historic districts; 4. Providing for economic benefits to encourage business and residential owners to locate and invest in historically significant properties; 5. Protecting and enhancing the attractiveness of the city to home buyers, tourists, visitors and shoppers, and thereby supporting and promoting business, commerce and industry, and providing economic benefit to the city; 6. Fostering and encouraging preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the city's historic structures, areas and neighborhoods; 7. Promoting the use of historic districts and landmarks for the education, pleasure and welfare of the people of the city; and 8. Promoting the identification, evaluation, protection and interpretation of the prehistoric and historic archaeological resources within the corporate limits of the city. WHEREAS Cathy Bordner has served with great professionalism, dedication, and distinction as a member and as chairman of the City of Jefferson’s Historic Preservation Commission; recipient of the 2015 Gregory Stockard Award, many private civic preservation oriented organizations; WHEREAS Cathy Bordner has dedicated herself to preserving and restoring historic properties in Jefferson City; the Watts House, 718 E. Capitol Ave and 1102 E. McCarty St.; along with the numerous contributions to community initiatives such as the effort to save the Cole County Jail/Sheriff's Residence from demolition and her unwavering focus on the abandoned property issue in Jefferson City's inner core; WHEREAS Cathy Bordner’s unwavering dedication and support to the preservation of historic properties, advocacy for said properties, education of the community, tireless work ethic in the area of historic preservation has improved the community and lives of the people of Jefferson City. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Jefferson City Historic Preservation Commission hereby on behalf of its members, recognizes the remarkable achievements of Catherine C. Bordner and gratefully acknowledges her many contributions to the historic preservation of the City of Jefferson ; AND

that
this
statement
of
appreciation
be
appropriately
inscribed
 and
conveyed
to
Catherine C. Bordner
with
a
copy
to
be
included
in
the
official
minutes of
the October 10, 2017, meeting
of
the
Jefferson City Historic Preservation Commission.
