AN ORDINANCE, authorizing and directing the Executive
Director to compensate, in the aggregate amount of Fourteen
Thousand Four Hundred Dollars ($14,400.00), those employees in the
Classified Service of the District in Pay Grade 17 and above, who
worked extraordinary hours during the recent strike emergency by
manning the District treatment plants and pump stations on the
basis of 24 hours per day.
WHEREAS, the strike of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer
District employees normally manning the treatment plants and pump
stations of the District, which extended from the period August 5,

operations and made it imperative that non-striking supervisory
personnel in higher classified positions continue operation of the
plants and pump stations on a 24-hour per day basis, and
WHEREAS, the limited number of such personnel made it
necessary that each employee work extremely extended hours and in
some instances remain at his work site throughout the strike
period,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT:
Section One. The Executive Director is hereby
authorized and directed to provide, in the aggregate amount of
Fourteen Thousand Four Hundred Dollars ($14,400.00), compensation
at the normal rate of pay for each of the employees in the
Classified Service of the District in Pay Grade 17 and above, who
performed services at the District treatment plants and pump
stations for more than his normal workday, during the period
