Well we had a pretty good meeting on a cold and slushy Tues. I was a little nervous to chair initial meeting but attendees Ruby, Sue L, and new member Ike Scott soon made me comfortable .Thank you. Ike is a retired engineer with trans. dept. New York state. I reviewed recent CCRTA meeting, the second I've attended. That we approved sign design in blue (no CCRT), and agreed to fund map of bike friendly roads on Cape. I believe the BBC will be in the loop on this. Also, through Eric's introduction of the Harwich BC folks we will now meet with Orleans, Chatham, and Harwich on the 11th to discuss common issues. As bike touring easily rolls through all our towns they are interested in Brewster road safety too. We further discussed the larger picture of future town planning which is to accommodate increased population within our village centers. Bicycle and pedestrian amenities will be sought more and more. How can we be part of that evolution now?We are interested in knowing more of the 6A project and how it might f;ivor our mission statement. Perhaps Chief or Bob could enlighten us. We further discussed The Bicycle Friendly designation by The League of American Bicyclist organization. I think this is a worthy template for us to dissect or go for the whole. Other Cape towns will lead or follow on this. League of American Bicyclists * Bike Friendly Community Campaign Obviously we will rely on Chief and BB for advise and guidance. Did you know that according to AAA Brewster has not had a road fatality in 24 years! Is a Bike to Work Week in the picture for Brewster this year? Current items are still Village map at CCRT intersects, safety concerns with seasonal workers, and safety ed for our schools. And finally, our next formal meeting will be in 60 days 4/5, 4:30 BPS. We also wondered if 8-9 AM round table breakfast meet would accommodate schedules better. For those present it would. You? To fill this vacuum of time and momentum we will need to pro- actively participate via emails like this. Our collective smarts, interests, and 1 opinions need to be shared via this venue so please contribute!! That's why you're in this. I will keep the group current as much as possible. I'll report after coalition meeting on 11th. Kindly acknowledge this report and copy to everyone. More to come, Jack Clarke , Chair BBC 2
