Held Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 8 a.m. at Northside Restaurant, Rte 6A.
Voting members present: Jack Clarke, Chair, Andi Genser, Ruby Anastasio, Bob
Bersin.
The meeting was called to order at 8:15.
Reports and Discussion:
Committee philosophy and goals: A reading of the town's charge to this committee
was re-stated with general agreement to be pro-active to be in compliance with this
mission statement.
The Committee is charged to make recommendations to promote safe and enjoyable bicycling in the town of
Brewster and to encourage the use of bicycles for recreation,commuting and as an alternative means of
transportation within the town and to neighbouring towns on the lower cape.
The Committee will report to the Board of Selectmen on all bicycling related matters and shall make
recommendations for future action.
Rte GA for commuting:
It was agreed to appeal to the town to provide safer passage on the 6A corridor, This would
be accomplished by road calming devices and portable signage. A quorum was present and a
unanimous vote was in favour of a formal letter to selectmen recommending this action.
School Outreach:
It was agreed to reach out to our schools to see if there was interest in Bike Clubs. Ruby
Anastasio will lead on this.
Committee Membership:
Ike Scott is a new member who is an Engineer familiar with road and transportation issues.
Ike was in attendance.
Public Relations: Importance was stressed. Andi Censer to Lad.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:30. Next meet time to he announced.
