Submitted by Janet 9fus6and, Clerk, Brewster Cable TV Advisory Committee Documents used (and attached)are: 1) "BGTV Video Services Coordinator's Report, November 2011" by James Paul Ludwig. BGTV Video Services Coordinator's Report November 2011 The month started out with the first solo effort of producing the video for Fall Town Meeting. It makes for a very long day, but the results were good. In the past you all would have noticed multiple camera operators, sound man, director, etc. All is done now with the Sony Anycast station control unit with robotic cameras and pre-loaded graphics. This also included doing the auditorium sound on site with the new audio board that was acquired some time ago, but never used during a live production at Stony Brook School. There was a glitch or two at the beginning, but for the most part it went well. I now know that the audio board, which is powered, is not ideal for use in concert with the system already in place at the school. However I did learn a few things in its usage in that situation (where it is being used to facilitate both the house sound and the audio for the video recording). Also,as pointed out to me by Larry, I should have pulled a couple of mics from town hall for the moderator and center stage mic for better results. Next time. Eventually I would like to purchase a smaller, non-powered audio board for this kind of work in the field. The board I used could more than likely be re-purposed in a different town building as a permanent fixture (it's really heavy). The other thing that happened was that during the recording of the meeting I accidently turned off the DVD recorder(the power switch is on top of the unit)and didn't notice it wasn't recording for about 12 minutes,so of course people noticed and I had to do the painful informing post meeting. But other than those issues it still was a success. At last we have received the field equipment from B&H Photo. This includes a beautiful Canon XH A1s HD/DV camera with wide angle lens w/sturdy tote bag and a few other accessories. It is not complete yet as far as a tripod setup and the need for a shotgun mic, but I wanted to get what was available and approved before the holiday season. I'm hoping to get out in the field during Dec.to record some special events for the town. My thanks go to Lisa Souve for her cooperation in these purchases. I would like to purchase a few more items in January:A tripod head,a DTE drive, and a shotgun mic,all to supplement field production. Also I want to purchase some video background graphics for title tag graphics at the beginning and end of meetings. This would make the meetings more professional looking on the channel. I would like to request permission to be able to use the recently purchased camera for personal projects. I'm not talking about going out and shooting weddings and such. My wife and I do work on documentary films about media literacy;we've been working on one for the last year. Eventually I will be buying my own camera but can't really afford it at this time. We're talking about 20 to 30 hours of usage over a year's time.Thank you for your consideration. I'm in the beginning stages of putting together an inventory for all cable related purchases over the past two years. There will be three categories:studio production, field equipment, and an informal inventory of AV equipment at various town locations for the convenience of future town productions. I've also started organizing my work area at town hall. It's very small and needs to contain a lot of stuff and at the same time be secure. The large beige cabinet outside the control room contains mostly field production equipment and I will be modifying the control room for lighting purposes and convenience of access to accessories and information. As far as bulletin board progress:The library and COA are getting things to me regularly at this point. I'm hoping to see more departments in town bringing content for the EBB(electronic bulletin board). I've also directed whoever has sent something for the EBB to send it to LCTV for their EBB on channel 17. November saw my billable hours increase,67 this month.Going into 2012 I project 25 to 35 hours a week, which has been approved by the town administration. As always please contact me if you have any questions, concerns or useful observations or ideas.
