Finance Committee
October 22, 1998
The meeting of the Finance Committee of the City of Jefferson was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by
Chairman Rick Nilges.
The following Committee Members were present:
Councilman Carol Blaney
Councilman James Haake
Councilman Charles Jackson
Councilman Carl Jaynes
Councilman John Landwehr
Councilman Carolyn McDowell
Councilman Steve Nelson
Councilman Rick Nilges
Councilman Len Stella
Councilman Larry Vincent
• Absent:
None
Approval of Minutes:A motion was made by Councilman Charles Jackson to approve the minutes of
the October 12, 1998 Finance Committee Meeting,seconded by Councilman Carl Jaynes and approved
unanimously.
Discussion on Parks/Stormwater sales tax:A discussion was held on the issue of a Parks/Stormwater
Sales Tax as a method to finance a convention center.No official actions were taken as a result of the
discussion.
Discussion on Alternative Funding Sources:After the discussion of the sales tax method of funding,
the committee discussed various other alternative funding sources.No official actions were taken as a
result of the discussion.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Finance Committee at this time,a motion was made
by Councilman Carl Jaynes to adjourn, seconded by Councilman Larry Vincent and approved
unanimously at 9:051 P.M.
