A RESOLUTION TO ADOPT A DRIVEWAY CONSTRUCTION/REHABILITATION REVIEW AND
APPROVAL PROCESS AND PERMIT FEE SCHEDULE
WHEREAS, The City of Riverdale, Iowa ("City") is a Municipal Corporation, organized and
operating under the laws of the State of Iowa, and;
WHEREAS, Staff has reviewed the City's building permit and application fees and found
them to be in need of updating and modifications in order to be in compliance with
existing construction and occupancy codes for the state and county and to make
Riverdale's construction permitting processes substantially similar to neighboring
communities; and
WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of Riverdale has the authority to revise, amend,
create and remove building and occupancy rules and standards for both commercial
and residential construction within the city limits (ref. Code of Riverdale, Chapter 1.03),
and;
WHEREAS, Staff has developed a process by which a builder or home owner is required
to request a permit for driveway construction or rehabilitation, submit plans for review
and approval by the City, allow for inspection of the completed construction by an
authorized member of the City's staff, and make any modifications to plans or final
construction as instructed (Exhibit "A"), and;
WHEREAS, Staff now recommends that a process and associated fee schedule for the
review, inspection and approval for driveway approaches be set forth as follows:
Residential Driveways:
New or replacement = $25.00
Widening existing driveway only = $15.00
Curb Cut = $15.00
Commercial Driveways:
Installation of new or improvement of existing driveway = $100
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVERDALE, IOWA,
Section 1. That the City Council for the City of Riverdale, Iowa pursuant to Chapter
1.03 of the City Code, hereby approves the updated procedures and guidelines for
permitting, inspecting and approving driveway construction and rehabilitation within the
city limits of Riverdale, and;
Section 2. That the City Council for the City of Riverdale, Iowa, hereby adopts the
proposed fee schedule included in this resolution for such permits.

Inspections: Before, the concrete is poured the completed framework shall be made
accessible to the Building Department for their inspection for compliance with the city
standard specifications. Call in inspection request at least twenty-four hours in advance.
For inspections call the Riverdale Maintenance Department at 563.949.0464.
