HomeMy Public PortalAboutCommunity Preservation Committee -- 2011-11-09 Minutes Date Approved Vote Town of Brewster COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE Meeting Minutes November 9, 2011 Present: Elliott Carr, Terry Ryder, Paul Ruchinskas, and Roland Bassett Jr. Member Missing: Tino Kamark, Jeanne Boehm and Elizabeth Taylor. In attendance: Steve Jones, Brewster Historical Society 4:30 NO QUORUM The 2007 Memorandum of Understanding on the grant, prepared by Town Counsel, states in part: In consideration for the Community Preservation Act Funds, the Brewster Historical Society shall: 1. Oversee the restoration of the Glass Plate Negatives. Said restoration shall be done by an expert qualified in said field, and shall be completed within one (1) year from the date of this MOU; 2. Preserve the Glass Plate Negatives by protecting them from the temperature and humidity; 3. Secure the Glass Plate Negatives with an alarm system approved by the Community Preservation Committee; 4. Digitize and create photographs from the Glass Plate Negatives that shall be available for public viewing in a museum or gallery type setting. Said photographs shall be completed and available for public viewing no later than two (2) years from the date of this MOU (10/10/07); 5. Electronically archive and post selected copies of the photographs created from the Glass Plate Negatives on the Internet for public viewing. The photographs shall be posted on the internet for public viewing within a reasonable time frame. It does not appear that all the times specified were met. Elizabeth was going to check the date of payments under the grant. Steve Jones stated the Society is in compliance with the Memorandum. The negatives have been restored They are protected by an alarm system and on display at the Society's Historic Museum. 45 are available on the internet If this is true the primary areas of dispute would seem to be whether the Society's Museum, which is rarely open, constitutes sufficient public accessibility and what number constitutes"selected' copies available on the web. This matter will be on the agenda for the December meeting, with Ellen St. Sure in possible attendance. Topics the Chair did not reasonably anticipate.
