Leesburg to Host Job “Match Making” Event for Residents and
Businesses of the Leesburg HUBZone
New job opportunities for HUBZone residents offered by
businesses seeking HUBZone certification.
Leesburg, VA (May 29, 2013) – On Tuesday,
June 4, 2013, the Town of Leesburg will hold
a HUBZone “match making” event, from
12:00pm to 3:00pm, at the Hampton Inn
located at 117 Fort Evans Road NE. The
event is designed to help HUBZone
businesses find qualified HUBZone residents
to hire, as well as help businesses interested
in locating in the HUBZone find office space.
“This event is a great opportunity for Leesburg’s HUBZone residents to meet employers who
are looking specifically to fill jobs in the very near future,” said Marantha Edwards, Leesburg’s
Economic Development Director. “There will be a wide range of job opportunities, from field
work to data entry to technology jobs available.”
The Small Business Administration’s HUBZone (Historically Underutilized Business Zone)
program promotes economic development and employment growth in distressed areas. Earlier
this year, the SBA designated an area within the Town of Leesburg as a HUBZone. Certified
HUBZone businesses receive certain competitive advantages when vying for federal contracts.
To be certified, a business must have its primary office location in a HUBZone, must be a small
business by SBA standards, must be 51% American-owned and 35% of its employees must live
in a HUBZone. Leesburg’s HUBZone is Census Tract 6105.05, generally bordered by King Street,
the W&OD Trail, the Route 15 Bypass and Edwards Ferry Road. A map of the Leesburg
HUBZone is available on the Town website at www.leesburgva.gov/HUBZone.
Working with Loudoun Workforce Resource Center, the Leesburg Economic Development
Office has marketed the June 4th match making event directly to residents of the Leesburg

should include either entry-level positions or positions that offer on-the-job training. There are
limited spaces available for businesses to participate.
