PROFESSIONAL SERVICE CONTRACT FOR
ENGINEERING SERVICES
WHEREAS, there exists a need for professional services to prepare plans and
specifications, bid and supervise construction from time to time as needed for the
Borough's annual emergency services contract; and
WHEREAS, engineering services are a professional service exempt from the
requirement of public bidding pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-5 (1) (a); and
WHEREAS, the Local Finance Officer has certified that funds am available..
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and CounciI of the
Borough of Carteret does hereby approve the appointment of Killam Associates at
a maximum cost not to exceed $20,000.00 ($5,000.00 of which shall be a lump sum
for plans and specifications and $15,000.00 which shall be reimbursable during the
life of the contract) billable per attached contract.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Municipal Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute said contract.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the contract is awarded without competitive
bids in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:11-5 (1) (a) due to the specialized and
professional nature of the services provided.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that a notice of this action shall be published in the
Home News Tribune on February 22, 2000.
