Leesburg, VA (June 10, 2013) – The
Town of Leesburg’s 2013
Independence Day Celebration will
be held on Thursday, July 4th 2013
at 10:00am. The day will be full of
festivities, beginning with the 23rd
annual Independence Day Parade,
held through historic downtown
Leesburg.
The parade will kick off at 10:00am
from Ida Lee Park, travel south on
King Street and conclude at Fairfax
Street. Civic groups, youth
organizations, community groups, families and others are encouraged to participate in the
parade. No fee is required to participate and pre-registration is encouraged, but is not
mandatory. The application for the parade is available online at www.idalee.org, or at the front
desk of Ida Lee Park Recreation Center.
Back this year is the American Originals Fife and Drum Corps, sponsored by Toth Financial. This
traditional corps adds a patriotic sound to the parade and is a favorite among parade viewers.
The group will perform at the intersection of King and Market Street as a prelude to the parade.
Plan to arrive downtown by 9:45am to hear the fifes and drums before the parade begins.
This year’s parade will also feature the Annual Patriot’s Cup Competition, sponsored by
Leesburg Today. This award will go the best parade entry and winners will display the trophy on
their parade unit as they traverse the parade route and have their name engraved on the
Patriot Cup, post-parade.
