REAFFIRMING SICK LEAVE POLICY
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret is committed to providing the citizen's of
Carteret with the best public service; and
WHEREAS, sick leave provided to Borough employees is to be used when the
employee is actually sick and unable to work; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Borough that any abuse of said leave shall not be
tolerated;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that all employees absent five (5)
consecutive working days on sick leave, or ten (10) days cumulative in any calendar
- year shall be required to produce a doctor's notice for any day and every day
thereafter;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that each Department Head shall report to the
Mayor and Council the name of any employee absent five (5) days consecutive or ten
(10) days cumulative in any one calendar year.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any employee not complying with this
resolution shall be subject to disciplinary action.
Adopted this 7th day of November, 1996
and certified as a true copy of the original
on November 8, 1996.
