Prevent Stormwater Pollution By Properly Disposing of
Hazardous Household Waste
Leesburg, VA (June 17, 2013) – Do you have unwanted hazardous chemicals in your garage or
shed? Have you been meaning to clean out the pantry but not sure how to safely dispose of
those unwanted cleaning products? Have you been storing things you don’t want or need
because you’re don’t know where you can dispose of them? There are four more Household
Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection events remaining in 2013! Now is the time to take action!
The Loudoun County Office of Solid Waste Management hosts numerous HHW collection
events at sites throughout the County each year for residents to safely dispose of unwanted
hazardous materials. Improper disposal of hazardous household waste is an unnecessary
contributor of stormwater pollution. Help keep chemicals out of waterways by taking
advantage of a free HHW event! The remaining events in 2013 will be as follows:
July 20 Heritage High School 520 Evergreen Mill Road, Leesburg
September 21 Harmony Middle School 38174 West Colonial Hwy, Hamilton
October 19 River Bend Middle School 46240 Algonkian Parkway, Sterling
November 16 Heritage High School 520 Evergreen Mill Road, Leesburg
Events are free to residents of Loudoun County and run from 8:30AM to 2:30PM on the
designated day. Please visit www.loudoun.gov or phone 703-777-0187 for more information on
HHW collection events.
