AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY TO OPERATE
THE RICHMOND CITY BUS LINES AND CREATING A PUBLIC TRANSIT FUND FOR SUCH
PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, any city of the second or third class shall have the power to
own, operate and acquire a public transportation system, and
WHEREAS, the Bus Advisory Committee has recommended that the City acquire
and operate the Richmond Rose City Lines,
NOW THEREFORE, Be it Ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, that:
SECTION 1. The City of Richmond, Indiana, shall acquire, own and operate
the public transportation system entitled the Richmond Rose City Lines,
which shall be managed and controlled by the Board of Public Works and Safety.
SECTION 2. There is hereby established a revolving fund to be known as
the "public transit fund". All proceeds from the operation of the public
transportation system formed hereunder shall go to the city controller and
be placed by him in the public transit revolving fund. All monevs remaining
in said fund at the end of each year shall remain in such fund and not revert
to the general fund.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and approval by the Mayor.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
this day of 1973.
