HomeMy Public PortalAbout07428 O R D I N A N C E NO. 7428 AN ORDINANCE, accepting the certified results of the special election called by The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District on March 8, 1988. WHEREAS, on the 23rd day of December, 1987, the Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District did adopt Ordinance No. 7358, calling a special election in The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District on the proposition to approve a schedule of rates, rentals and other charges for sewer and drainage services in the District, and WHEREAS, said election was duly held on the aforesaid 8th day of March, 1988 by the Board of Election Commissioners of the City of St. Louis, Missouri, and the Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis County, Missouri, respectively, and WHEREAS, the ballots furnished for and used at said special election were in substantially the form as set forth in the aforesaid Ordinance No. 7358, as adopted by this Board, and WHEREAS, said Board of Election Commissioners of the City of St. Louis, Missouri, on the 16th day of March, 1988, did certify to this Board of Trustees the results of the aforesaid election, and WHEREAS, said Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis County, Missouri, on the 16th day of March, 1988, did certify to this Board of Trustees the results of the aforesaid election, and 2 WHEREAS, this Board of Trustees has now canvassed the returns of said election, as certified by the Board of Election Commissioners of the City of St. Louis, Missouri, and the Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis County, Missouri, respectively, and WHEREAS, it appears upon said canvass, that at said election there was cast a total of Seventy-eight Thousand Eight Hundred Fifteen (78,815) votes on the aforesaid proposition in the City of St. Louis, Missouri, of which Thirty Six Thousand Seven Hundred Twenty-eight (36,728) votes were cast "Yes", and Forty Two Thousand Eighty-seven (42,087) votes were cast "No"; and there was cast a total of Two Hundred Two Thousand Four Hundred One (202,401) votes on the aforesaid proposition in St. Louis County, Missouri, of which One Hundred Fourteen Thousand Four Hundred Forty-two (114,442) votes were cast "Yes", and Eighty Seven Thousand Nine Hundred Fifty-nine (87,959) votes were cast "No", and WHEREAS, more than one-half of all of the votes cast on the aforesaid proposition were cast in favor thereof; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT: Section One. The proposition as submitted to the qualified electors in the City of St. Louis, Missouri, and St. Louis County, Missouri, as set forth more particularly in said Ordinance No. 7358, at a special election held on the 8th day of 3 March, 1988, was assented to by more than one-half of the qualified electors of the District voting on said proposition at said election, the total vote on said proposition having been One Hundred Fifty-one Thousand One Hundred Seventy (151,170) votes for said proposition to One Hundred Thirty Thousand Forty-six (130,046) votes against said proposition, and the Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District hereby accepts the results of said election as certified by the Board of Election Commissioners of the City of St. Louis, Missouri, and the Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis County, Missouri, respectively; and that the Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District is authorized to establish by ordinance the schedule of rates, rentals and other charges to be collected from all the real property served by the sewer and drainage facilities of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District set forth in the aforesaid proposition. 4 The foregoing Ordinance was adopted April 13, 1988.
