RESOLUTION NO. 2008.103
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD FINDIfVG
THAT A PUBLIC PURPOSE WOULD BE SERVED BY APPROVING A FINANCIAL
SUBSIDY IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,500 FOR CONTEMPO DANCE 310
~~ WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has a desire to support the efforts of community
based organizations whose purpose is to provide services to the residents in the
community; and
WHEREAS, the Contempo Dance 310 is a community based organization
providing dance instruction, including Latin dance and Ballet to Lynwood youth; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the City Council's discretionary account to
cover this request in the amount of $4,500; and
WHEREAS, an appropriate public purpose would be established by this donation
insofar as it would benefit. Contempo Dance Group, and the funds would be used to
promote youth activities, such as Latin dance and Ballet in Lynwood; and
WHEREAS, such activities, in turn, advance the health of residents, and
potentially reduce dropout rates, crime, violent acts, and drug use by diverting the youth
of Lynwood from the risk of engaging in unproductive or criminal activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby find,
proclaim, order and resolve as follows:
Section 1. The City Council finds that the above recitals are true and correct.
Section 2. The City Council approves the financial subsidy in the amount of
$4,500 for the Contempo Dance 310 Group.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 17T" DAY OF JUNE, 2008.
