Ida Lee Tennis Team Successfully Defends
Morgan Dennis Cup Title
Leesburg, VA (July 1, 2013) – The Ida Lee Park Tennis Team successfully defended its title,
rolling to victory in the 23rd annual Morgan Dennis Cup the weekend of June 14-16 at the
Middleburg Tennis Club. The Morgan Dennis Cup is a tournament for the best players in the
area. Chestnut Forks, Middleburg Tennis Club and the Ida Lee Tennis Center field teams in this
event and play a series of matches consisting of men’s and women’s singles, men’s and
women’s doubles, as well as mixed doubles. Each match win earns the team a point. Out of a
possible 16 points, Ida Lee posted 13 points to Chestnut Forks’ 8 points and host Middleburg
rounded out the action with 3 points.
This year’s Ida Lee Park Tennis Center team was organized by Head Tennis Professional Mark
Elliott. The team consisted of Ida Lee Park Tennis Center regular players and program
participants. Team Ida Lee consisted of Howard Mercer, Hugo Ciarrocchi, Tanja Magoc, Noe
Vasquez, Tom Fortier, Vinnie Khera, Nico Botha, Scott Carpenter, Molly Melchior, Stephanie
Heistad, Kitty Foster, Jacque Bonds, Lju Pavlov, Chris Downs, Jen Beamish, Rod Young as well as
Vijay and Alexandra Shah.
Ida Lee will host the Leesburg Cup Senior Championship on September 21-22, 2013. For
