III. OLD BUSINESS
PARKS
a.)
Riverfront Park
Explained to Heartland Gymnastics the history of Riverfront Park and informed
them we were asked by City Council to find out exact building sizes they would
need for adequate space for a new facility. Mike Voris explained that they would
need about 12,000 to 14,000 square feet of space. We informed them that Arts
and Humanities would need about 1,000 square feet of space. The committee
asked them if they were ready finically to build. They informed the committee
that they are not ready yet. In order to be eligible for grants they would need to
have a location first.
Ron Rooth explained as soon as the snow is gone the committee must find the
boundaries for Riverfront Park so we can start in house design work. Ron Rooth
said after we get the boundary lines he and I will talk with the City Engineers and
get these boundaries on the plot maps.
b.) Special Use Permit — Riverfront Park
The Special Use Permit has been turned in and we are waiting to here back from
the Forest Service. We should be hearing something back this fall.
IV. NEW BUSINESS
PARKS
a.)
Opening Parks
We have begun clean up and light maintenance work on the City Parks. We still
expect some snow and will begin major work as soon as the weather clears.
b.) Downtown Flowers
Downtown Flowers have been order for this year. The flower baskets were taking
to Boise early this week and will be ready for summer.
c.) Conditional Use Permit — Fish Pen Docks
We are finishing up a Conditional Use Permit for the Fish Pen Docks. We need
to have a Conditional Use Permit from the City before we can go any further.
The Conditional Use Permit will go in front of the Planning and Zoning
Committee next week.
RECREATION
a.) After School Program
The After School Program is running smoothly. The Recreation Coordinator will
be running the program for a week while the After School Program Coordinator is
out on vacation. We are looking at stopping the program after this semester due
to an increase in After School Programs in McCall. We do not see this as a bad
ending, we are happy to be one of the first After School Programs and it is nice to
see others in the Community begin to follow the idea.
b.) Adult Dodge Ball
Adult Dodge Ball finished last week. We had about 40 participants. The
participants would like to see us run the program twice next year, once in
November and once in March. We are grateful to see this program run and have
so many participants.
c.) Mini Vandals Basketball Clinic
The Mini Vandals Basketball Clinic ended also ended last week. We had 20
participants and had a successful program. Next year we are going to work with
the High School Principal and Athletic Director to increase participation in youth
basketball and hope to see a league next year.
