TO INTERVIEW LICENSING BOARD APPOINTMENT AND REAPPOINTMENTS

MEE'T'ING RELOCATED TO TOWN COUNCIL OFFICE AFTER POSTING NOTICE AT CHAMBER ENTRANCE
The meeting was called to order at 5:15 P.M. by Councilor Falkoff.
In attendance were Committee members Susan G. Falkoff, Chair; Michael F. Dattoli, Vice
Chair and Angeline B. Kounelis, Secretary.
Candidate for reappointment, Sandra Kasabian Hoffman stated that she has served as an
Alternate Member for the past 11 years. Because the Board is comprised of Democrats and
Republicans, Mrs. Hoffman has remained as an Alternate Member due to the fact that no
Democratic Full Member vacancy has occurred. Mrs Hoffman enjoys interacting with the
residents and wishes to continue in the position.
Candidate for appointment, Steven Aylward applied for the position to fill an unexpired
Republican term. Mr. Aylward has resided in Watertown for 35 years and feels the Town
is changing. His semi -retirement status affords him time to work towards preserving the
quality of the Town.
Candidate for reappointment, George B. Newman wants to continue giving back to the
community through his Licensing Board position. According to Mr. Newman, the Board has
made strides in the BYOB requirements which should be ready for the 04/01/16 inception.
Candidate for reappointment, Donna B. Doucette, spoke of the many complexities
associated with license applications as they apply to state and federal laws. Mrs.
Doucette stressed of the Board's reliance on the Clerk of the Board to prepare
documents and interact with the applicants.
Councilor Dattoli motioned to recommend the reappointment of Sandra Kasabian Hoffman as
an Alternate Member with a term to expire on 02/15/19. Seconded by Councilor Kounelis.
Unanimous 3-0
Councilor Dattoli motioned to recommend the appointment of Steven Aylward to fill an
unexpired Full Member term to expire on 02/15/17. Seconded by Councilor Kounelis.
Unanimous 3-0
Councilor Dattoli motioned to recommend the reappointment of George B. Newman as a Full
Member with a term to expire on 02/15/18. Seconded by Councilor Kounelis. Unanimous 3-0
Councilor Dattoli motioned to recommend the reappointment of Donna B. Doucette as a
Full Member with a term to expire on 02/15/19. Seconded by Councilor Kounelis.
Unanimous 3-0
Councilor Falkoff suggested that recommendation be made to request an update on the
hiring of the Licensing Board Clerk. So moved by Councilor Kounelis and seconded by
Councilor Dattoli. Unanimous 3-0
Councilor Dattoli moved to adjourn at 6:40 P.M., seconded by Councilor Kounelis.
