AUTHORIZING URBAN ENTERPRISE OFFICE TO APPLY TO URBAN
ENTERPRISE ZONE AUTHORITY FOR LOAN OFFICER
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret has been designated as an Urban Enterprise
Zone since January 1995; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret established the Carteret Economic
Development Corporation, a non-profit entity designed to guide and devise programs
which will be beneficial to the residents and business owners in the Urban Enterprise
Zone; and
WHEREAS, the Carteret Economic Development Corporation has agreed to
establish a small business loan program to aid the businesses in the zone with growth
and expansion; and
WHEREAS, the Carteret Economic Development Board have reviewed programs
submitted by various applicants to establish this loan program; and
WHEREAS, the Carteret Economic Development Board has recommended the
hiring of the consulting firm, Mark Kabakow and Associates, to establish, seek
leverage funding and administer the Carteret Urban Enterprise Zone Small Business
Loan Program at fees approved by the State of New Jersey Urban'Enterprise
Authority and covered by the Urban Enterprise 3% Sales Tax receipts, not to exceed
$40,000.00 for a two (2) year period commencing February 1, 1997 through Janua~
31, 1998;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Governing
Body authorize the submission of said project for review and approval to the State of
New Jersey Urban Enterprise Authority.
