A11in called the meeting to order at 10:30 am.
Carole explained the proposal from Applied Coastal Research and Engineering to
conduct additional hydodynamic modeling for the resource assessment and design
concept study of the Muddy Creek culvert widening. Specifically, the proposal will
assess the trapezoidal opening associated with a pile bent design in comparison with the
preferred 24 ft opening. The total cost of the scope of work is not to exceed $4.800.
Judith made a motion to fund the study up to an amount of$5,000. The additional 5200
would provide a cushion in case a conference call was needed. Jane seconded the
motion.
The ensuing discussion was supportive of the Alliance's funding of this proposal as a
logical component of the on-going resource assessment and design concept study.
The Alliance's long term role in the Muddy Creek project came up. Bob Duncanson
suggested that the on-going involvement of the Alliance was desireable as a show of
regional support and this would be important in seeking grants. The grantwriting process
was discussed and Carole suggested holding a meeting with Jeremy Bell and Martha
Rheinhardt to develop costs and a timeline for the next phase of the project. The
Alliance's role could be clarified from there. Larry added that it would be important for
the towns to know by mid January what resources would be needed in FY13.
Following discussion a unanimous vote was taken.
A brief recap of the Peer Review public meeting followed the vote.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:05 am.
