Nancy Thompson discussed her efforts on completing an application to put Old City Cemetery and
Woodland Cemetery on the National Historic List. The hope is to get these two cemeteries recognized
for the people who are interred that were an integral part in the founding and development of Jefferson
City. Nancy explained the requirements to be eligible to be listed on the National Historic Registry List.
David Grellner and Nancy Thompson discussed the progress on the Sara Walker gravestone and the
Herrick Family Lot. Currently the Sara Walker gravestone project has a concrete base poured at the
cemetery. Capital Monuments has taken the broken gravestone pieces back to their shop and will be
placing them on a granite slab with an inscription of Sara Walker name and birth/death date. The
Herrick Family Lot is still being discussed for repair with the Historic City of Jefferson.
New Business:
Nancy Thompson and David Grellner presented a maintenance agreement between the City of Jefferson
and Historic City of Jefferson that would allow the Historic City of Jefferson to do restoration work on
gravestones in Woodland and Old City Cemetery. The Cemetery Resources Board would have to
approve each project before the Historic City of Jefferson could complete the work. The Cemetery
Resources Board approved the maintenance agreement with the Historic City of Jefferson with present
board members voting in favor of the agreement. The agreement will now have to be signed by the
Historic City of Jefferson.
Other Topics and Issues:

the Thomas Jefferson Conference Room at City Hall.
