HomeMy Public PortalAboutR0108 R E S O L U T I O N NO. 108 WHEREAS, this District as a part of an overall sewage disposal system for the Coldwater Creek Watershed, has proposed a sanitary trunk sewer to intercept all sewage wastes within the watershed and discharge them into a sewage treatment plant to serve the Coldwater Creek Watershed above Halls Ferry Road; and WHEREAS, the need for this project is increased because of the existence of the intake to the Chain of Rocks water treatment plant serving St. Louis City is less than ten river miles below the proposed treatment plant site; and WHEREAS, the proposed project is one recommended as part of the comprehensive plan for pollution abatement prepared by the U. S. Public Health Service, Division of Water Supply and Water Pollution Control; and WHEREAS, it will eliminate serious public health hazards and provide a high degree of treatment for all sewage wastes from the area; and WHEREAS, the Federal Government has enacted a law known as the "Federal Water Pollution Control Act" 33 USC 466 et seq.; and WHEREAS, said Act provides in part that the Surgeon General is authorized to make grants to any State, municipality, or intermunicipal or interstate agency for the construction of necessary treatment works to prevent the discharge of untreated or inadequately treated sewage or other waste into any water NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT that the Executive Director is hereby authorized to make application to the United States of America for Federal assistance in the construction of a sewage treatment plant to serve the Coldwater Creek watershed, above Halls Ferry Road. Said application for Federal assistance to be made under the provisions of the "Federal Water Pollution Control Act" 33 USC 466 et seq. The foregoing Resolution was adopted February 11, 1957. -2-
