The Cemetery Resources Board met on Thursday,January 18,2018 at 10:00 a.m.in the Thomas Jefferson Room,lower level of the John G. Christy Municipal Building,320 E.McCarty Street,Jefferson City,Missouri. Approval of the Minutes: A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the November 16,2017 by Tim Theroff,Beth Bock seconded.Minutes were approved. Old Business: The Historic Walking Tour was discussed between board members.Nancy discussed individuals that will be helping with representing the interred people in Old City and Woodland Cemetery and also presented a map with the locations of the gravestones.Discussion also occurred about setting up a reception area.Tim Theroff and Dawn Hackman volunteered to staff the reception booth at the front of the cemetery.The Cemetery Resources Board decided to have the event on April 21,2018 from 10:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m.with Sunday April 22,2018 being a back-up date.Nancy Thompson will be creating a flyer and brochure for the event.Board members discussed using balloons at the event to mark locations. Minutes of the City of Jefferson Cemetery Resources Board January 18, 2018 pg. 2 Nancy Thompson discussed her efforts on completing an application to put Old City Cemetery and Woodland Cemetery on the National Historic List. The hope is to get these two cemeteries recognized for the people who are interred that were an integral part in the founding and development of Jefferson City. Nancy explained the requirements to be eligible to be listed on the National Historic Registry List. David Grellner and Nancy Thompson discussed the progress on the Sara Walker gravestone and the Herrick Family Lot. Currently the Sara Walker gravestone project has a concrete base poured at the cemetery. Capital Monuments has taken the broken gravestone pieces back to their shop and will be placing them on a granite slab with an inscription of Sara Walker name and birth/death date. The Herrick Family Lot is still being discussed for repair with the Historic City of Jefferson. New Business: Nancy Thompson and David Grellner presented a maintenance agreement between the City of Jefferson and Historic City of Jefferson that would allow the Historic City of Jefferson to do restoration work on gravestones in Woodland and Old City Cemetery. The Cemetery Resources Board would have to approve each project before the Historic City of Jefferson could complete the work. The Cemetery Resources Board approved the maintenance agreement with the Historic City of Jefferson with present board members voting in favor of the agreement. The agreement will now have to be signed by the Historic City of Jefferson. Other Topics and Issues: The next Cemetery Resources Board meeting was set for Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Thomas Jefferson Conference Room at City Hall.
