WHEREAS, the District has heretofore adopted Ordinance
No. 425 establishing the Gravois Creek Trunk Subdistrict of The
Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District, and delineating the
boundaries thereof; and
WHEREAS, it is the sense of the Board of Trustees of
the District that it is necessary, in the interest of the public
health of the District, that improvements be made in the
subdistrict established by Ordinance No. 425;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT that an improvement
in the Gravois Creek Trunk Subdistrict of The Metropolitan St.
Louis Sewer District is necessary in the interest of the public
health, and that the improvement shall consist of a sanitary trunk
sewer system extending from the eastern terminus of an existing
trunk sewer of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District near the
intersection of Leffingwell Street and the St. Louis San Francisco
Railroad right-of-way, then extending eastwardly therefrom down
the Gravois Creek valley and the River des Peres valley to a point
near the intersection of the River des Peres and the Mississippi
River. Such sanitary trunk sewer system to be of sufficient size
and capacity to provide adequate sanitary sewer service for the
estimated ultimate population of the Gravois Creek Trunk
Subdistrict.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that based upon the preliminary
plans prepared for that purpose available to this Board, and upon
the advice of its Executive Director, it is estimated the probable
cost of such sanitary trunk sewer system will be Four Million
Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand ($4,750,000.00) Dollars, and that
funds to pay for such improvement shall be derived from the sale
of general obligation bonds, payable both principal and interest,
by and from an annual tax on all taxable tangible property within
such subdistrict, provided such bonds are authorized by a vote of
the registered voters in the Gravois Creek Trunk Subdistrict at an
election to be hereafter held for that purpose in accordance with
the Plan of the District. The foregoing Resolution was passed on July 14, 1960.
