HomeMy Public PortalAboutR0328 R E S O L U T I O N NO. 328 WHEREAS, certain combined public sewers in City Blocks 5048 and 5049 constructed of brick varying in size from 28x42 inches to 24x36 inches are of inadequate capacity, and WHEREAS, the use of land in said city blocks now or formerly owned by I. E. Millstone can be facilitated by a relocation of said sewers, and he is willing to relocate them at his own expense by laying new sewers of the same capacity, and WHEREAS, additional capacity is required for public use whether or not said existing sewers are relocated and the provision of additional capacity is a public purpose, and WHEREAS, the lowest competitive bid for relocation and replacement of said sewers, with alternative capacities, based on plans and specifications heretofore approved by the District, show the following comparison: Required adequate capacity $ 45,667.21 Existing inadequate capacity 38,448.84 Cost of extra capacity $ 7,219.37 and WHEREAS, said I. E. Millstone has offered to relocate said sewers and to replace them with adequate public sewers if the District will pay Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00), to apply to such extra capacity required for public use, and WHEREAS, the District is empowered by Section 3.020(7) to accept said offer, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the construction of adequate combined sewers in City Blocks 5048 and 5049 of the City of St. Louis is necessary in the interest of the public health; that such sewers shall consist of approximately 1,160 lineal feet of reinforced concrete pipe varying in diameter from 36 to 54 inches, manholes and appurtenances; that the estimated probable cost thereof is approximately Forty-five Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars ($45,700.00); and that Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00) of the total cost of such improvement shall be paid for out of the Improvement Fund of the District and the remainder of the total cost shall be paid for by I. E. Millstone. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Executive Director be and he hereby is authorized and directed to accept said offer of I. E. Millstone and to enter into a formal written contract for the construction of said public sewers at a cost to the District of Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00). The foregoing Resolution was adopted on July 28, 1960.
