HomeMy Public PortalAboutR0551 R E S O L U T I O N NO. 551 WHEREAS, William W. Martin has tendered his resignation from the Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District to the Hon. Mayor of the City of St. Louis, and the Mayor has reluctantly accepted Mr. Martin's resignation, and WHEREAS, Mr Martin was the only original member still serving on this Board, having served since the District was formed in 1954; and WHEREAS, this Board wishes to express its deep appreciation to Mr. Martin for his services to the District and the residents of the District as a member and as former Chairman and Vice-Chairman of this Board. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE METROPOLITAN ST LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT: The Board deeply regrets that the condition of Mr. Martin's health precludes his continuing to serve on the Board. He served throughout his tenure with the Board with great devotion and attention to the problems of the District. The distinction of his performance and the importance of his contribution are accentuated by the fact that, as an original Board member, his term encompassed the infancy of the District with its extraordinary problems as a new concept without precedent to follow. He was instrumental in the formulation of the Districts policies, and, indeed, in bringing it from its origin to a full-functioning, efficient operation. He was Chairman from July, 1956 to July, 1957, but his outstanding qualities of leadership were felt throughout his years on the Board, not alone during his chairmanship. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this expression of regret and of our hope for a speedy restoration of his health be forwarded to Mr. Martin. The foregoing Resolution was adopted July 20, 1962.
