WHEREAS, Lewis J. Stiers has faithfully served since
May 15, 1958, as a member of the Board of Trustees of The
Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District, and as Vice-Chairman of the
Board from July, 1959 to July, 1960 and as Chairman of the Board
from July, 1960, until July, 1965; and
WHEREAS, this Board wishes to express its sincere
appreciation to Mr. Stiers as he concludes these eight years of
outstanding service to the District and to the people it serves;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT:
The Board herewith cites and thanks Mr. Stiers for his
land and devoted service, for the inestimable value of his
intelligent leadership and unerring judgment as a member of this
Board, and particularly during his unprecedented five-year tenure
as Board Chairman, for guiding the District successfully through
some of its most difficult problems and projects;
To recount Mr. Stiers' personal contributions to the
progress of this District would be virtually to recount the entire
history of the District itself, for his tenure parallels those
years of greatest achievement by the District, and in each of
these numerous accomplishments Mr. Stiers has given a full measure
of personal interest effort, and has been largely responsible for
their success;
Though he now departs this Board his contributions will
forever be a part of this Board and this District and will
continue to serve well for countless years to come the people of
this District;
Mr. Stiers' outstanding capabilities will be missed
and, equally so, his personal warmth and valued friendship.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this expression
by the Board be forwarded to Mr. Stiers. The foregoing Resolution was adopted July 21, 1966.
