WHEREAS, The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District was
instrumental in having adopted on October 4, 1966 by the United
States Senate Committee on Public Works, a Resolution calling for
a Study by the Corps of Engineers for Flood Control in the Area of
the Tributary Streams of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer
District, and
WHEREAS, The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District
supports the Corps of Engineers planning efforts in The
Metropolitan St. Louis Area, and
WHEREAS at the Corps of Engineers Public Hearing held
on Friday, June 14, 1968, concerning tributary streams in our area
of jurisdiction, The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District pledged
to serve as the local sponsor for any projects that might result
from the Corps of Engineers studies, and
WHEREAS, the first phase of these studies is the Maline
Creek Pilot Study. We now look forward to seeing this first phase
of work culminate in a project that will greatly benefit the
people in its Maline Creek Watershed and the surrounding region.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT that The Metropolitan
St. Louis Sewer District will act as local sponsor for the Maline
Creek Project, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT that we specifically request
that as soon as the Maline Creek project has been authorized by

Congress, an early land acquisition program be actively and
officially pursued, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES that
The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District herewith extends to the
Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, its thanks and
commendation for the leadership, cooperation, and exceptionally
competent studies and planning in seeking to resolve the major
stormwater drainage problems on tributary streams within The
Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES that
the Chairman of this Board convey by appropriate letter the
contents of this Resolution to the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers,
St. Louis District.
