A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the November 17, 2016 meeting, Tim

dependent on Dr. Tesfaye's class helping with the project this spring semester.
Minutes of the City of Jefferson Cemetery Resource Board
January 19, 2017 2
The Cemetery Resource Board discussed the veterans' gravestones in the cemetery. Rebecca
Gordon stated the docents have been actively working on the applications and should be ready
very soon.
David Grellner gave an update on the donation of the flag pole by Mr. James Ludy in Longview
Cemetery. After talking with the City of Jefferson Counselor, Ryan Moehlman, it was suggested
that since the donation of the flag pole was not immediate, that Mr. Ludy place in his will, at the
time of his death, that his estate would donate the flag pole to the City of Jefferson.
New Business:
Nancy Thompson asked the Cemetery Board if they were interested in conducting another
walking tour in Woodland and Old City Cemetery. The Cemetery Board members decided they
would like to do this event again this year with an emphasis on World War I. The event would
focus on how World War I affected Cole County at the time and those individuals involved in it.
Pat Rowe Kerr had an idea about having a musician at the walking tour and also mentioned
schools may be interested in the event.
Nancy Thompson has been invited by the Historic City of Jefferson to participate in the annual
meeting coming up on March 19, 2017 with a display. Pat Rowe Kerr asked the Cemetery
Resource Board for approval to start the process of finding community service individuals to
help with cemetery maintenance.
Other Topics and Issues:
David Grellner introduced city staff Jayme Abbott and Dave Helmick to the Cemetery Resource
Board. Jayme and Dave are part of the Property Maintenance Division with the City of
Jefferson and will be helping with the cemeteries.
The next Cemetery Resource Board Meeting was set for Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 10:00
a.m. in the Small Conference Room at City Hall.
Adjournment:
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitte ,
David Grellner
