Minutes Cemetery Resource Board Meeting Thursday, February 16,2017 Members Present: Nancy Thompson,Chair Tim Theroff,Co-Chair Jeanne Rutledge Beth Bock Members Absent: Rebecca Gordon Dawn Hackman Pat Rowe Kerr Guest: Michelle Brooks, New Tribune Staff: David Grellner, Environmental Health Manager Don Beck, Property Maintenance Inspector Nancy Thompson called the meeting to order. A quorum was present. The Cemetery Resource Board met on Thursday, February 16,2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Small Conference Room, lower level of the John G.Christy Municipal Building, 320 E. McCarty Street,Jefferson City, Missouri. Approval of the Minutes: A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the January 19,2017 meeting by Tim Theroff, Beth Bock seconded. Minutes were approved. Old Business: QR codes were discussed in the meeting. Nancy suggested putting the QR code information on "Find a Grave"website and not the City website. This will make the information on the individuals interred easier to update from different sources(family,friends,etc.). David Grellner stated a paragraph and link could be added to the City website to help direct people to the"Find a Grave"website. Nancy Thompson gave an update on a recent meeting held with Dr.Tesfaye from Lincoln University and the City of Jefferson GIS Division. Dr.Tesfaye has eight students to help with the mapping project in Old City Cemetery. The students will be available from the middle of March until the end of April to help with the project. The Cemetery Resource Boards responsibility is to place a survey flag with the name of Minutes of the City of Jefferson Cemetery Resources Board pg. 2 February 16,2017 the person interred at each grave location. Students will use equipment to mark each point and then create a map back at Lincoln University. The veteran tombstones were discussed. The Missouri Governor's Mansion docents are having a meeting next week to discuss the results of the veteran applications. The Historic Walking Tour was discussed during the meeting. Nancy reported 20 docents will be participating in the event. Discussion occurred between Jeanne Rutledge and Nancy Thompson regarding Bill Stein,a musician,who could be part of the event. Nancy brought up the idea about relating the East Capitol Avenue Renewal Plan with the Cemetery Walking Tour. People who lived in the area and their house could be featured during the tour with possible photos of the homes. Nancy also discussed with Tim Theroff on keeping the tour to a smaller area of the cemetery. Also dates were discussed for the tour. The first preference was June 3,2017 and the second preference was May 20, 2017. Nancy was going to check with Rebecca Gordon on the availability of the docent's on these dates. Nancy also announced there will be a Missouri World War I Symposium on April 8, 2017.This will be an all-day event held at the Missouri Military Museum at the Fallen Warrior Auditorium in the Missouri National Guard Headquarters,2302 Militia Drive,Jefferson City, Missouri. This event is open to the public from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. New Business: There was no new business discussed. Other Topics and Issues: The next Cemetery Resource Board Meeting was set for March 16,2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Small Conference Room at City Hall.
