Minutes Cemetery Resource Board Meeting Thursday,April 20,2017 Members Present: Nancy Thompson, Chair Jeanne Rutledge Beth Bock Pat Rowe Kerr Dawn Hackmann Members Absent: Tim Theroff Rebecca Gordon Staff: David Grellner, Environmental Health Manager Kim Verslues,Administrative Technician Nancy Thompson called the meeting to order. A quorum was present. The Cemetery Resource Board met on Thursday,April 20,2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Missouri River Room, lower level of the John G.Christy Municipal Building,320 E. McCarty Street,Jefferson City, Missouri. Approval of the Minutes: A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the March 16,2017 meeting. Minutes were approved. Old Business: Nancy Thompson gave an update on the GIS project that the City of Jefferson Cemetery Resource Board and Lincoln University are working on. Information is being completed by the students on the project at this time. Discussion occurred about the Cemetery Walking Tour being held on June 3. Board members discussed decoration such as flags and balloons to advertise the event. The use of tents was discussed and how many would be needed for the event. Board members discussed service workers and boy scouts for cleaning up the cemetery before the event. Nancy handed out a map of the Walking Tour to see where the locations of the docents and tents will be. Also the Walking Tour brochure was discussed and reviewed for ideas. Approximately 350 brochures and 100 flyers are needed for the event. Pat Rowe Kerr asked whether there will be a guest speaker. Nancy stated they did not have one at this time. It was mentioned that Bill Stein will be bringing his music group to the Cemetery Walking Tour. Minutes of the City of Jefferson Cemetery Resources Board pg.2 April 20,2017 Pat Rowe Kerr mentioned that Navel Sea Cadets could be used to help clean-up the cemetery. Nancy has been planting flowers in the cemetery to help with beautification of the cemetery grounds. The Gone But Not Forgotten Monument was discussed. David Grellner gave a layout of names on the monument provided by Bill Dallmeyer who will complete the work. The work can only be done when the conditions are dry. Nancy discussed completing work on the brick crypt and iron fences in the cemetery. She mentioned the Historic City of Jefferson may help with paying for some of the repairs. Nancy also mentioned she will be placing flags on the veteran graves for Memorial Day. Also items were discussed such as vandalism and the idea of making Woodland/Old City Cemetery into a historic park. Other Topics and Issues: The next Cemetery Resource Board Meeting was set for May 18,2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Small Conference Room at City Hall.
