Cemetery Resource Board Meeting

Nancy Thompson called the meeting to order.A quorum was present.
The Cemetery Resource Board met on Thursday,June 15,2017 at 10:00 a.m.in the Thomas Jefferson
Room,lower level of the John G.Christy Municipal Building,320 E.McCarty Street,Jefferson City,
Missouri.
Approval of the Minutes:
A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the May 18,2017 by Tim Theroff.Pat Rowe Kerr
seconded.Minutes were approved.
Old Business:
Discussion occurred about the Historic Walking Tour and the commitment it takes to conduct one
successfully.Discussion occurred between board members on what time of year the event should be
held,who should be participants such as the Governor's Mansion docents and youth organizations.
Board members agreed the event should be held in the month of September and a long term
commitment/planning period is needed to make the event successful.
It was reported by board members that Beth Bock stated she was happy with the work the Naval Sea
Cadets accomplished in Old City and Woodland Cemetery.Seven cadets had signed up to help
participate in the clean-up event at the cemetery this past month.

David Grellner reported on the status of "The Gone but Not Forgotten" monument in Old City Cemetery.
Bill Dallmeyer reported he is scheduled to complete the work on Friday, June 16, 2017, depending on
the rain. Nancy discussed her involvement in creating a display for the Salute to America Celebration on
July 4, 2017. Nancy will have a display at this event discussing the history of the cemeteries and those
interred in these cemeteries. She will also be displaying the information in City Hall the week before the
Fourth of July.
Election of Officers:
The election of officers was postponed until a later meeting.
New Business:
The Herrick Family grave site was discussed by Nancy Thompson. The Historic City of Jefferson will be
donating money for the restoration of this grave site. Currently, bids are being taken to see how much it
will cost to restore this family plot. Tim Theroff discussed the idea of placing more permanent
capstones on the walls of the plot to make this structure more stable for years to come. The onsite tour
of the cemetery was postponed until a later date due to weather conditions.
Other Topics and Issues:
David Grellner discussed the upcoming Cemetery Resource Board report and power point presentation.
It was decided to postpone the report from the July 3 Council Meeting to a later date.
The next Cemetery Resource Board meeting was set for July 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Thomas
Jefferson Conference Room at City Hall.
