Cemetery Resources Board Meeting

Nancy Thompson called the meeting to order. A quorum was present.
The Cemetery Resources Board met on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Thomas Jefferson
Room, lower level of the John G. Christy Municipal Building, 320 E. McCarty Street, Jefferson City,
Missouri.
Approval of the Minutes:
A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the June 15, 2017 meeting by Pat Rowe Kerr,
Jeanne Rutledge seconded. Minutes were approved.
Old Business:
The discussion of veterans' gravestones was discussed by board members. Nancy reported that
Michelle Brooks has identified four more colored troops at Old City Cemetery. Discussion occurred
between board members on the process of completing application for veteran tombstones. Nancy
mentioned that maybe help could be obtained from the ROTC.
The "Gone But Not Forgotten" monument was discussed. The names have been added to the
monument by Bill Dallmeyer in June, so the project is complete at this time. Nancy and David gave an
update on the Herrick Family Grave Lot. Request for bids will be sent out regarding the project.

Nancy also reported on the display she put up at the Fourth of July Festival in Downtown Jefferson City
as well as in the week before the Fourth of July in City Hall. The display turned out well and had a lot of
historical information on it.
Election of Officers:
The Cemetery Resources Board elected Nancy Thompson as Chair and Tim Theroff as Vice -Chair of the
Cemetery Resources Board for the current year.
New Business:
Discussion occurred between board members regarding future projects in the cemetery. The project of
repairing the bed stones was discussed and how to properly do it. It was decided that a contractor
would need to give an initial idea of how much it would cost to complete the project so a budget could
be figured out. Thomas Lawson Price Foundation is currently interested in donating $2000.00 to a
project in the cemetery. Other projects discussed were the repair of the Clark Mausoleum door.
Nancy announced that the Cemetery Resources Board report would be presented to Council on August
7, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. and encouraged board members to attend if possible.
Other Topics and Issues:
The next Cemetery Resources Board meeting was set for August 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Thomas
Jefferson Conference Room at City Hall.
