Jefferson Room,lower level of the John G. Christy Municipal Building,320 E.McCarty Street,Jefferson
City,Missouri.
Approval of the Minutes:
A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the October 19,2017 by Dawn Hackmann,Jeanne
Rutledge seconded.Minutes were approved.
Old Business:
The veterans'gravestones were discussed.Nancy Thompson stated she will look into the application
process for the gravestones.Nancy also talked to Jane Beetem with the Historic City of Jefferson
regarding the Herrick Family grave lot. The idea was discussed to have the Historic City of Jefferson be
used as the contractor to complete work in the City of Jefferson cemeteries to help reduce insurance
requirements for contractors. This process would have to be looked into.
Nancy talked about creating a partnership with the Historic City of Jefferson to conduct the walking tour
this spring. Her thoughts were to have some of their people help portray individuals interred in
Woodland and Old City Cemetery.Pat Rowe Kerr asked whether the Chamber of Commerce would be a
resource to help out with the tour. The Cemetery Resources Board also discussed organizations
sponsoring individual grave markers such as the Sara Walker gravestone project. The Board agreed with

this idea. David Grellner stated that Capital Monuments is currently working on restoring the Sara
Walker gravestone in the cemetery.
New Business:
Nancy Thompson discussed giving ownership of Woodland and Old City Cemetery to the State of
Missouri. This project would be modeled after the cemeteries currently being taken care of by the State
of Missouri Department of Natural Resources (Jewell Cemetery and Sappington Cemetery). Nancy has
compiled a list of dignitaries that are buried in Woodland and Old City Cemetery and have notable
history ties to the State of Missouri. She thinks this may qualify the cemeteries for the State of Missouri
to take ownership of them. More research and discussion is being sought for this project at this time.

Respectfully submitted,
David Grellner
