HomeMy Public PortalAboutR1787 à *Ô R E S O L U T I O N NO. 1787•ƒ WHEREAS, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District received a letter dated October 29, 1986, from the State Auditor's office stating they had received a petition containing enough signatures to meet the requirement of the Missouri statutes requesting the State Auditor to perform an audit of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District, and WHEREAS, the letter further stated that these signatures, to be valid, must be those of qualified and registered voters within the political subdivision, and WHEREAS, the State Auditor's office verifies only that the signatures meet the minimum number required to request an audit and do not necessarily represent those of qualified and registered voters within The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District, and WHEREAS, the letter further stated that if The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District desired to verify each signature, it had 30 days from the date of the letter to do so, and WHEREAS, the District is faced with the EPA mandate to comply with the Clean Water Act and must call for a vote of the electorate to fund the required capital improvements, and WHEREAS, it is desirous that the question of the State audit be resolved before such election to minimize the chances of the audit being used as an election issue or further delay the District's efforts to meet the challenges before it, and Ü8Ü ÐBlBØÐÁÁ À JKÀñ„!B„!B„!B„!B€ € € „ ñÌ Ì WHEREAS, The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District is most anxious to have the State Auditor commence and complete the audit as quickly as possible.Þ KÞ Ì Ì NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District thatÞ KÞ Ì Ì 1. The Board of Trustees hereby informs the State Auditor of Missouri that we do not intend to challenge any of the signatures on the petitions and waive the 30©day period to do so.Þ KÞ Ì Ì 2. The Board of Trustees hereby requests the State Auditor to commence the audit as quickly as possible.Þ KÞ Ì Ì 3. The Board of Trustees pledges the full support and cooperation of the Board of Trustees and staff to provide all information and resources necessary to the thorough and early completion of the State audit, andÞ KÞ Ì Ì 4.
