HomeMy Public PortalAbout2017.09.28 Proclamation - Geri Shaw Day City of McCall Proclamation October 5, 2017 WHEREAS: Geraldine Fitzgerald Shaw, affectionately known as Geri, was born on October 5, 1917 in International Falls, Minnesota; and WHEREAS: Geri Shaw moved with her family from Minnesota to Meridian, ID when she was a teenager; and WHEREAS: She attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa ID for one year before moving in with her mother who taught at Woodgrove School on Farm to Market Road; and WHEREAS: While living with her mother, she visited the Shaw Ranch and met John Shaw whom she dated and later married at the age of 22; and WHEREAS: Geri Shaw moved with John to McCall to live just down the road from the family ranch where they lived until 1955 when they sold their place and bought a farm in Emmett but later buying the family ranch in McCall from his parents; and WHEREAS: Geri and John Shaw loved their McCall ancestral ranch and worked hard their entire lives to maintain or improve the property, and would usually be at the ranch in the Summers and spend their winters in the warmer areas of Emmett or Riggins until John passed away in 2001 so now she spends most of her time in Emmett with visits to her ranch in McCall; and WHEREAS: Geri Shaw is multi-talented and taught piano and was the pianist for many churches: Christian, Nazarene, Riggins'Community, and Catholic churches; and WHEREAS: Geri and John Shaw were married for 62 years and had 3 children, Millie, Tom, and Sue, 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren; and TO CELEBRATE the 100`h birthday of Geraldine Fitzgerald Shaw NOW THEREFORE, I, Jackie J.
