HomeMy Public PortalAboutR2139 R E S O L U T I O N NO. 2139 WHEREAS, the forces of nature have combined to inflict upon the City of Valley Park a great natural disaster, i.e. the Meramec River's flood of 1994; and WHEREAS, this flood was of such magnitude that many homes became inundated with floodwater, forcing their occupants to find other shelter, and creating a hardship for many families and individuals; and WHEREAS, many businesses have closed due to flooding, disrupting the City's economy, and causing workers to lose pay, and owners to lose revenue; and WHEREAS, these citizens and businesses face continued hardship and inconvenience due to the 1994 flooding, and WHEREAS, The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District wishes to take whatever action it can to help ease this crisis on individuals, families and businesses. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT, THAT in recognition of the hardship and inconvenience the 1994 flood has caused and continues to cause to residents of the City of Valley Park, the District does hereby waive payment of sewer bills for those Valley Park customers that either had their homes or businesses flooded or who had to leave because of the threat of rising water until the properties are reoccupied. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Board of Trustees will continue to closely monitor this situation and take whatever appropriate action is necessary to assist our customers during this flood crisis. The foregoing Resolution was adopted May 11, 1994.
