HomeMy Public PortalAboutR2251 R E S O L U T I O N NO. 2251 WHEREAS, The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District hopes to expand the understanding of non-point-sources of water pollution to students in elementary and middle schools within its service area; and WHEREAS, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources is making available to communities throughout the state, financial assistance to initiate programs on non-point- sources of pollution in an effort to reduce the impact on the waters of the state, and WHEREAS, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources has offered the District a grant totalling Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) for the implementation of a non- point-source pollution awareness education program, and WHEREAS, the knowledge that will be obtained by students taking part in this program will carry forward with them into adulthood, when they can make informed decisions about how to handle non-point-sources of pollution in their communities, and WHEREAS, the components of this program will inform students of the problems associated with improper disposal of waste products into the stormwater sewers within District boundaries. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT that the District accepts said grant and the associated conditions for the implementation of a non-point-source pollution awareness education program for students in elementary and middle schools within the District's service area. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the staff execute any and all documents necessary to accept said Missouri Department of Natural Resources grant, and forward a letter accompanying said acceptance to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources expressing the District's appreciation for said grant. The foregoing Resolution was adopted April 10, 1997.
