WHEREAS, The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District Board of
Trustees wishes to express its appreciation to the voters of St. Louis City and St.
Louis County for their support of the four District Plan Amendments which
appeared on the November 7, 2000 ballot, and
WHEREAS, the residents of St. Louis County approved the measures
with majority votes of 62 percent, 72 percent, 70 percent and 70 percent
(unofficial returns) for District Propositions One, Two, Three and Four respectively;
and
WHEREAS, the residents of the City of St. Louis approved the
measures with majority votes of 65.6 percent, 72 percent, 70 percent and 73
percent (unofficial returns) for District Propositions One, Two, Three and Four
respectively; and
WHEREAS, the approved amendments will provide citizens with more
input into the District, increase public accountability over the District, and give
the District more tools to use in addressing the sewer needs in the community,
and
WHEREAS, such changes will enable the District to continue and
improve upon the service necessary to protect the public=s health and safety, and
preserve the water quality of our community, and
WHEREAS, the mandates expressed by voters in this election will be
implemented by the District as expeditiously as possible.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT THAT it hereby
expresses its appreciation to the voters of St. Louis City and St. Louis County for
their adoption of the District=s Plan Amendments, and acknowledges, with
gratitude, the confidence and understanding the voters have given the District.
The foregoing Resolution was adopted November 9, 2000.
