RESOLUTION NO. 2526
WHEREAS, Bernie Rivers Blackmon has faithfully served
The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District from August 5, 1974, having
started as a Billing Clerk I, to her retirement as Director of Diversity
effective July 1, 2003, and
WHEREAS, Ms. Blackmon’s tireless energy, dedication and
loyalty have contributed to the development and progress of the District
and to the public which it serves, and
WHEREAS, as Director of Diversity, Ms. Blackmon’s program
to increase the participation of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises in
District projects achieved results surpassing District goals, making said
program the leader in this area, and
WHEREAS, Ms. Blackmon’s contributions to the St. Louis
community through her membership and participation in numerous
professional, civic and community organizations have been invaluable,
and
WHEREAS, Ms. Blackmon has been cited as a “Top Ten
African Woman of Distinction” by the Professional Organization of
Women,
NOW, THREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT:
THAT, this Board on behalf of itself, the District and its
people, and the public it serves, herewith cites and expresses its greatest
appreciation to Bernie Rivers Blackmon for her 29 years of exemplary
service.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
THAT, a copy of this expression be presented to Ms. Bernie
Rivers Blackmon.
The foregoing Resolution was adopted July 10, 2003.
