RESOLUTION NO. 2008:147
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF VIDEO SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS
FOR THE CITY THROUGH AN INFORMAL BID PROCESS
WHEREAS, the city is experiencing problems relating to drugs and prostitution in
various areas throughout the city; and
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has entered into a
pilot program which camera surveillance is used as an additional tool in addressing
crime in the city; and
WHEREAS, the city is interested in taking advantage of the existing
infrastructure currently being utilized by the Century Station; and
WHEREAS, purchasing 20 additional surveillance cameras can be done more
economically and expeditiously using the informal bid procedure; and
WHEREAS, Section 6-3.13 of the Lynwood Municipal Code allows City Council
to authorize purchases through an informal bid by a 4/5 vote.
NOW, THEREFORE the City Counci! of the City of Lynwood does hereby find,
proclaim, order and resolve as follows:
Section 1. That the City Council finds that the acquisition of the surveillance
cameras through an informal bid may be more economically and efficiently effective,
that such direction requires a 4/5 vote of the City Council Members and the City Council
hereby approves the exercise of the exemption under Lynwood Municipal Code Section
6-3.13.
Section 2. That staff is authorized to go through an informal bid process for
video surveillance cameras and equipment and come back to Council for a bid award.
Section 3. This resolution shall go into effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 19t" day of August, 2008.
