WHEREAS, Valerie E. Patton has faithfully served as a member of the Civil
Service Commission of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District from July 22, 2005 to
December 7, 2011, and
WHEREAS, Ms. Patton served as Vice-Chairman of the Civil Service
Commission from September 6, 2006, to December 7, 2011, and
WHEREAS, Ms. Patton’s leadership, wisdom and knowledge have greatly
contributed to the fair and just interpretation and application of the Civil Service Rules by the
Commission, and
WHEREAS, Ms. Patton’s vast contributions to this community through her
service as a member of the Civil Service Commission of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer
District, and her membership in numerous other professional, civic and community
organizations, not the least of which is her position of Executive Director with the Saint Louis
Business Diversity Initiative, which has been instrumental in improving workforce diversity and
inclusion in the St. Louis business community, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT, that this Board on behalf of the
District and the public it serves, wishes to thank Valerie E. Patton for her years of service on the
Civil Service Commission, and commends her for her exemplary service.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be presented to
Ms. Patton in acknowledgment of her service and contributions.
The foregoing Resolution was adopted January 12, 2012.
