WHEREAS, James H. Buford served on the Board of Trustees of The
Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District from August 10, 2006, to May 7, 2014, having held the
position of both Vice-Chair and Chair of the Board of Trustees, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Buford's strong leadership, knowledge and expertise imparted
direction and stability to the District, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Buford's contribution serving on the Stakeholder Relations
Committee and serving as chair of the Audit, Finance and Pension Committees assured a
continued diligent focus on the District’s fiscal matters, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Buford's contributions to the St. Louis Community reach far
beyond his service on the District's Board, including, but not limited to serving as the President
and Chief Executive Officer of the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis and on the Board of
numerous non-profit and other organizations throughout the St. Louis region, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT; THAT, this Board on behalf of itself,
the District and the people it serves, herewith expresses its sincere appreciation and gratitude to
James H. Buford for his service on the Board of Trustees and for his many contributions to the
St. Louis Community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT, a copy of this Resolution be presented to
Mr. Buford in recognition of his service and accomplishment.
The foregoing Resolution was adopted on June 12, 2014.
