WHEREAS, Valerie Patton served on the Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan
St. Louis Sewer District from May 7, 2013 to December 31, 2015, and
WHEREAS, Ms. Patton's strong leadership, knowledge and expertise imparted
direction and stability to the District, and
WHEREAS, Ms. Patton's contribution of serving on the Stakeholders, Program
Management, Finance Committee and serving as chair of the Audit Committee assured a
continued diligent focus on the District’s fiscal matters, and
WHEREAS, Ms. Patton's contributions to the St. Louis Community reach far
beyond her service on the District's Board, including, but not limited to serving as the Executive
Director of the St. Louis Business Diversity Initiative. She has served as a Civil Service
Commissioner for the District and also on numerous boards and board committees and is
currently on the board of directors for the United Way of Greater St. Louis, Girl Scouts of
Eastern Missouri and the St. Louis Public School Foundation. She is also a member of Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.-St. Louis Alumnae Chapter and the LINKS-Gateway Chapter. She is
active in the Howard University Alumni Club of St. Louis where she was a past President.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT; THAT, this Board on behalf of itself,
the District and the people it serves, herewith expresses its sincere appreciation and gratitude to
Valerie Patton for her service on the Board of Trustees and for her many contributions to the
St. Louis Community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT, a copy of this Resolution be presented to
Ms. Patton in recognition of her service and accomplishment.
The foregoing ordinance was adopted on January 14, 2016.
