Minutes of the Wednesday, Feb.8,2012 meeting
4:00 pm in Meeting Room B, Brewster Town Hall.
The meeting was called to order at 4:10 pm by Norm Adams,Chair.
Members present: Norm Adams,Walter Powers,Janet Husband
Non-members present: James Paul Ludwig Video Services Coordinator, Larry Greeley, Finance
Committee liaison.
Janet Husband distributed copies of the draft minutes of the Tuesday,Jan. 3, 2012 meeting
as well as copies of the approved minutes of the Tuesday, Dec.6,2011 meeting. Janet Husband
moved and Norm Adams seconded that the Minutes of the Jan. 3,2012 meeting be accepted.
All members present voted Yea. The Minutes of the Dec. 6, 2011 meeting were accepted and will
be filed with the Brewster Town Clerk.
James Paul Ludwig reviewed his monthly. Members expressed difficulty printing out James
Paul's report and he will plan to send them out in pdf format in future.
James Paul explained his recent problem with new modulator that Comcast installed:
the audio was only coming out of the left side. He will have to add an AGC (audio gain
control)to fix the problem. James Paul will have them install a VDA (video distribution
amp) and an ADA (audio distribution amp) at the same time. Total cost will be
approximately$950.
James Paul would like to purchase a Mac laptop with Final Cut Pro for the purpose of
editing. Janet Husband moved and Norm Adams seconded the motion to approve the
purchase of a Mac specifically for editing, including software, at a cost up to a maximum
of$4,000. All members present voted Yea. The motion passed.
Regarding the new modulator that Comcast installed,James Paul expressed some confusion
about why V/A feeds need to be supplied for Public and Educational programming. The issue
was discussed and Larry Greeley(former Chair of the Brewster Cable TV Advisory Committee)
offered some suggestions. The Board will investigate further in order to fully understand the
relationship of the lines from Brewster to the head end and the New LCCAT studio at the Nauset
Regional High School. A meeting with Mary and others might be advisable. Also the details and
status of the installation of Brewster's own I-net needs clarification,as does progress on the
Open Cape project. The need for a technical committee was proposed, as the current
Committee's mission seems to be expanding to encompass more than just Cable N. A technical
consultant might be advisable, possibly Chuck Sherwood.
The next meeting was set for Wednesday, Mar. 7, 2012 at 4:00 PM.
Janet Husband moved and Norm Adams seconded a motion to adjourn the meeting.
All members present voted Yea. The meeting was adjourned at 5:40 pm.
