Leesburg Welcomes CraftyStitches with Ribbon Cutting
Ceremony on September 7, 2013
Leesburg, VA (August 30, 2013) – On Saturday, September 7,
2013, Mayor Kristen Umstattd, along with other town officials
will officially welcome CraftyStitches to the Town of Leesburg
with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:00pm. CraftyStitches is
located at 1604 Village Market Boulevard, Suite 105 in the
Village at Leesburg.
The Town of Leesburg is pleased to have CraftyStitches open
a retail store and a shop after being an online business for
over three years.
Owned and operated by Loudoun County resident Jennifer Michaels, CraftyStitches is a unique
business whose mission is “to grow and create a crafting culture.” Michaels set out to follow
her passion for traditional crafts and organic fabrics after being in the corporate world for many
years. CraftyStitches has offered services like sewing classes to bridal parties and everything in
between for many years, winning several awards for innovative ideas and business model along
the way. In 2011, CraftyStitches took 1st place in the Loudoun Small Business Development
Center’s annual Business Plan Contest, in the Scalable Business Model category.
With the new shop, Michaels is thrilled to showcase her newest initiative, Sew Genius™, which
is a series of sewing camps, classes and workshops incorporating S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology,
Engineering and Math) technologies into the craft of sewing. Michaels aims to “merge the
world of science and tradition” with S.T.E.M. classes which will be offered to adults and children
of all ages. Further information about the CraftyStitches can be found at
www.craftystitches.com.
