HomeMy Public PortalAboutCable Television Advisory -- 2012-07-03 Minutes Brewster Cable TV Advisory Committee Minutes of the Tuesday,July 3,2012 meeting 4:00 PM in Meeting Room B, Brewster Town Hall The meeting was called to order at 4:03 PM by Norm Adams,Chair. Members present: Norm Adams,Janet Husband,Walter Powers Non-members present: James Paul Ludwig,Video Services Coordinator Draft minutes of the May 2,June 6 and June 14,2012 were distributed. Walter Powers moved and Norm Adams seconded the motion that all three sets of minutes be accepted as written. Mrs. Husband also distributed her June 16th letter to Norm recommending the appointment of Jennie Mignone as Brewster's new representative to the LCCAT board to replace Larry Greeley and a copy of the email she sent to Cape Codder news reporter Rich Eldred on June 19, 2012. There followed a discussion of the the cabling of Brewster's town agencies for a local I-net that was part of the contract with Comcast. It is expected that this town-wide network will be hooked up to the Open Cape node when it is installed. Open Cape expects all their cabling(from Sandwich to Provincetown)will be completed by January 2013. James Paul Ludwig will speak to Town Administrator Charlie Sumner about the details of this work, especially where the Open Cape node will be and how soon Brewster's cabling will start. Members of the BCTVAC are concerned about what their role in this should be. There is a feeling that present board members are not technically skilled enough to direct this work. James Paul reviewed his work during the last month. He was able to tape the recent program entitled: Losing Cape Cod;Our Wastewater Challenge. James Paul feels that the BCTVAC's level of expertise does not have to extend to supervising the town's inet installation or the Open Cape connection. Kathy Lambert, the town's IT professional, will be responsible for that. The appointment of Jennie Mignone to the LCCAT Board of Directors was made by the Selectmen at their June 18,2012 meeting. Norm will phone Jennie to alert her to the next LCCAT Board meeting. Members of the BCTVAC feel that Jennie should also be a member of our Board. Apparently she is agreeable. The discussion then turned to a constructive letter from the BCTVAC to Garrett McCarry suggesting expressing our feeling that programs originating in Brewster(by James Paul and others)should have priority over any and all non-local programming. These programs deserve consistent attention and should be run frequently on a regular schedule. We would like to see Brewster's programs run repeatedly on weekends and during prime time(6 PM to 10:30 PM) on a set schedule so that viewers will be able to anticipate when to expect them. Janet will draft this letter. The next meeting was set for Wednsday,August 1,2012 at 4 PM. The meeting was adjourned at 5:54 PM.
