Town of Leesburg Personal Property Tax Bills
Due Monday October 7, 2013
Residents reminded not to remove permanent decals from vehicles
Leesburg, VA (September 10, 2013) – The Town of Leesburg recently mailed 2013 personal
property tax bills to taxpayers. Payment is due to the Town by Monday, October 7, 2013.
In addition to the tax due on personal property, taxpayers also pay a $25 annual license fee
often referred to as the “decal fee”. Residents are reminded that they should not remove the
permanent decals from their vehicles.
The Town encourages taxpayers to avoid waiting in line at Town Hall by paying online, mailing
their payments, or paying by phone. Late payments will be assessed a penalty of 10% on any
unpaid balance. Interest of 10% per annum will be added to any unpaid balance beginning
November 1, 2013.
The Town offers several convenient payment options:
• Customer Self-Service Portal allows taxpayers to pay online with an eCheck or credit
card (MasterCard, VISA or Discover). Go to www.leesburgva.gov/payments. Online
payments are processed by Official Payments Corporation, the Town’s third-party
vendor. A convenience fee of 2.85% of the total transaction amount, with a minimum
fee of $3.95, is applied each time the service is used. The Town receives no portion of
this fee.
• Mail a check or credit card payment using the payment stub and envelope that were
enclosed with the bill. To pay by mail, taxpayers MUST return the bottom stub with the
payment. Please make sure to allow time for the payment to arrive on or before the
October 7th due date.
o If paying by check, one check can be used to pay more than one tax bill. If paying
multiple tax bills with one check, please include the tear-off remittance slip for
each bill being paid with the check in the return envelope.
