Date: November 9, 2020
To: All Citizens and Interested Parties
Riverdale City Council
From: Mayor Mike Bawden
Re: Executive Order: Move to All -Virtual Public Meetings Due to the
COVID-19 Public Health Emergency
Summary: Effective immediately, all public meetings for the City of Riverdale, Iowa
will be held using the City's virtual meeting account and accessible to the
public off the City's website.
Notes: With thousands of diagnosed cases of COVID-19 in Scott County and all
signs pointing to a continued rise in infections for the foreseeable future, I
have issued this order to require all public meetings held by the City to be
conducted via our video conferencing account (GoToMeeting) which is
accessible by the public via the City's website.
In order to facilitate this, I have asked Deputy Clerk, Katie Enloe to make
sure meetings are posted to the City's website no later than the Friday the
week before the scheduled meeting, added to our online calendar, posted
to the City's bulletin boards outside City Hall, posted to the Riverdale
Residents Group on Facebook and, when possible, communicated to our
citizens via email. All notices should include information on how to join
the meeting and a hypertext link to the online meeting room.
I have also asked all meeting chairs to open the online facility at least
fifteen minutes prior to the start of any meeting so the public can join at
their convenience.
I will re-evaluate this executive order when the case count in Scott County
appears to have ebbed or by March 1, 2021, whichever comes first. An
addendum to this order or an alternative order rescinding this one will be
issued at that time.
